Active young couple, Gemma and Caleb, wanted to experience more of the great outdoors so they escaped their three-bed London home for beautiful nature in St Neots at our Wintringham development in Cambridgeshire.
When asked what made them move from their previous home, Gemma said: “We knew we wanted to move closer to family and this area was a good halfway point for both of us. After knowing where we wanted to be based, we started viewing houses and settled on the Cala at Wintringham development due to how much we liked the St Neots community and the proximity to St Neots station, which is a 10-minute walk away.
Both Gemma and Caleb are very active and since relocating to Wintringham, Gemma has re-joined her childhood netball team in St Ives while Caleb, a former Team GB swimmer, now plays water polo in nearby Bedford. Returning to these activities in St Neots played an important role in the couple's decision to move.
Gemma said St Neots is the perfect hub to suit their hobbies: “We’re a very sporty couple, and our new home has allowed us to access our favourite sports in St Neots as it's quick to get everywhere – getting to Cambridge and Bedford is very easy, even into London, it's only a 40-minute train journey from St Neots station".
The open spaces and nature in St Neots were a big selling point for Gemma and Caleb, nestled within a conservation area and close to Wyboston Lakes:
“There are great walks in St Neots, such as the 3.5km trail surrounding the development and the area also has lots of amazing lakes. There are also plenty of dog-friendly walks in St Neots, which is nice coming from such a busy built-up environment. We love gardening too, and our home has lots of green space that we can utilise.”
“Overall, the ease of traveling in St Neots, the spacious feel of the houses, and having everything we needed close by made Cala at Wintringham an easy decision for us.”
When asked about their favourite part of their new home, Gemma said: “Definitely the main bedroom; it’s very luxurious, grand, and easily fits a super king-sized bed. The storage is also amazing, much more generous than most homes and it means we don’t need additional wardrobes cluttering the bedrooms. We also have two ensuites and a family bathroom which gives us lots of options and means we always have happy guests".
“We also love the open layout of the kitchen, and that we can use it as a living and social space, with table and chairs fitting easily. It’s great that our home has space for two home offices as both our employers offer the option of hybrid working".
“We were also conscious about energy efficiency as it was quite bad in our old home. The appliances and insulation of the homes in St Neots are extremely energy efficient and save money during the winter".
“Overall, the spaciousness of the home and the luxury feel made choosing a house easy and it’s something we can continue to grow into.”
