Q1. Hi Lucy, welcome to our Social Spotlight series! Can you tell us what made you pick a new build Cala home?
Buying a new build allowed us a fresh start in a brand-new home that was ‘move in ready’. My fiancé, Fraser, works away for three weeks at a time, so we knew when we first started looking that we needed to find somewhere that needed little to no work done.
We were already familiar with the town of Kirkintilloch, so when we found out Cala was building in the area, we immediately went to view a showhome and the rest is history!
In a nostalgic way, we were lucky to watch our home being built from the ground up, so we felt an attachment to it before we’d even stepped a foot inside.
Q2. It sounds like you had a lovely journey from picking your plot to moving in, just how simple was the process of buying your Cala home?
It was incredibly simple, thanks to the sales team at Cala. From very early on reserving our plot, to applying for our mortgage, Cala was there to support us every step of the way. It felt like a confusing process at times, however, someone from Cala was always on hand to advise us - nothing was ever too much.
Q3. That’s what we like to hear. If possible, can you tell us what you love most?
Firstly, we chose a Bryce style of home due to the space it has – we now have the perfect number of bedrooms for any overnight guests after we’ve hosted, and when we eventually start a family, these bedrooms will be permanently filled. A detached home was a must for us as well.
I love our stairs and hallway; it was the first thing I noticed when we first viewed the property - I could immediately envision Christmas morning, excitedly running down the stairs to see what Santa brought us! I can’t wait to decorate the banister with some festive bunting that will make it the most perfect welcome to our home around the holidays.
The size of the open-plan kitchen is also a major bonus as I love cooking and often film my recipes (whilst having a wash on in the adjoining utility room.)
Q4. Did you have ideas of colour schemes and how each room would look before you moved in?
This was another huge advantage for us. Our home was ready to move in, so the bathrooms and kitchen had been carefully designed already. Not having to choose actually made it even easier for us as we were really impressed by the selections already.
Q5. Sounds like it was fate! For interiors, is there any inspiration you’ve found yourselves loving?
We really like Scandinavian inspired décor, especially different shades of wood, as it reminds us of nature and the great outdoors.
Q6. Do you have any current favourite trends?
I adore ‘maximalism’ and could lose myself in hours of TikTok content watching people turning their homes into a colourful, fun and vibrant place to live. I’d like to incorporate a piece of that into our home eventually.
Q7. Do you have any advice or tips for those also thinking of buying a Cala home?
Don’t be afraid to ask the sales team plenty of questions and request to view your future home as often as you like, Cala are more than happy to assist – they completely understand what a huge deal it is.
We had such a positive move in experience, that we have now booked our wedding for the same date that we moved in!
If you are like us and want a brand new, spacious home that is ready to move in to, then a Cala property is for you.
