Now we’ve fully embraced autumn and started enjoying those pumpkin spiced lattes, you might want to consider turning over a new leaf when it comes to the décor in your home.

This blog has listed some interior trends you can take inspiration from to get your home ready for the new season and beyond.

1. Warm tones and earthy colours

Natural colours such as muted greens, rust and slatey blue tones, along with soft plaster, are on the rise for painting walls and accessorising your home. After all, earthy natural tones basically personify curling up in front of a log burner with a cosy blanket.

These earthy colours can provide a more natural and spacious feel to your home, especially in more urbanised areas like cities and towns. As a result, the popularity of these colour schemes has really taken off in recent months, making it the perfect plan for your home this autumn.

In terms of accessories, candles are the perfect addition to this trend, warming up rooms and the autumn mood effortlessly. According to social media platform, TikTok, leading the rankings for autumnal inspiration is candles, with over two million posts on the platform for autumn 2024.

2. Art deco revival

2024 has been the year that art deco made its triumphant return to home décor. Think Great Gatsby inspired opulence, with geometric shapes in the form of wallpaper, rugs, side tables or lamps. Add in some velvet throws and cushion covers in stunning jewel tones along with gold mirrors and accessories

3. Large sofas and chairs

Big plush sofas and chairs are perfect for making your home feel warm and cosy. L- and U-shape sofas make for a great spot to relax in, with a warm drink or a family movie night. And no lounge is complete without a plush chair for a statement piece. Chose a different fabric and colour from your sofa to really make a statement. Add in a standing lamp and you have the perfect reading nook.

4. Biophilic trend is here to stay

The biophilic trend was big in 2023, and it’s remained popular this year. Particularly if you live in an apartment with more limited garden space, bringing the outdoors in can add a more rustic and outdoor feel to your home. Another way to jump on this trend is by including wooden flooring or furniture, or even by picking key pieces like bamboo blinds or stone counter tops. Natural candles in rustic scents like cedar, rosemary and pine  elevate this trend easily.

5. Quiet luxury

Much like in fashion, the quiet luxury trend has infiltrated into the home. The polar opposite of maximalism, quiet luxury is a trend that centres itself in carefully curated pieces with consideration. When looking to achieve this in your home, think of classic pieces, such as a neutral tone rug, along with a soft colour palette which create an air of calm within your home. While colour isn’t the enemy in this trend, it should be subtle, muted tones, nothing garish or faddy.
