1. Use Pantone’s Colour of the Year 2025
Of course we have to start with the Pantone Colour of the Year 2025: ‘Mocha Mousse’, described as ‘an evocative rich brown infused with sensorial warmth, blending our desire for comfort and opulence to present a tasteful touch of glamour’, according to Pantone. The great thing about Mocha Mousse is you can use it however you want, either as a base for your décor or by simply using it to accessorise your home.
2. Statement hallways
In 2025, the hallway is set to become the design playground of choice. No longer just a place to kick off your shoes and hang coats, your hallway should make a statement. Think bold wallpaper, vibrant coloured accessories, feature lights or why not try a patterned runner on your staircase or even elaborate floor tiles? A gallery wall also gives the chance to chop and change the entrance of your home easily, and by arranging pictures in various formations, guests have something new to see each time they visit.
3. Extra-large sofas and chairs
If you are looking for a sofa upgrade, think big, and we mean extra-large big. Cloud-like sofas and cuddle chairs should adorn your home. L and U-shaped pieces should be the focus of your living room, even better if they are in lush velvety or boucle fabrics. Think big sectional sofas, so you can create a shape bespoke to your home. Large cuddler and wing backed chairs, perfect for reading in or relaxing with a coffee before you start your day, should accompany your sofa, with a bonus if they are in a clashing colour or fabric.
4. Drench your home in colour
Colour drenching your home is something that we’ll see a rise in as the year goes on. This technique can transform a room into a cohesive space, with just one colour dominating the walls, floors, ceilings, furniture and accessories. Colours that are a particular focus for drenching are buttery yellows, sunbaked reds, neutral caramel and biscuit tones, as well as pinks. Think rich and pigmented - this trend is not for the faint of heart.
5. Minimalist, but make it cosy
Minimalist décor is a trend that has been popular for a long time, but instead of the usual clean lines, bare shelves and cold colours, 2025 is the year of the cosy minimalist. Scandi, as well as Japandi, are well and truly here to stay. A neutral palette is key, along with darker wooden furniture, which should be accompanied by soft lighting with warm bulbs. And to keep the cosy feeling going, bring in soft textiles like faux fur blankets and shaggy rugs.
6. Curves and waves
Another popular trend from 2024 that isn’t going anywhere is curves and waves. Mirrors in curved and wavy shapes, curved vases and round cushions are perfect examples of how you can incorporate this trend into your home with accessories. The soft shapes make for a relaxing and inviting experience for you and your guests.
