John Richards - Group Planning Director

John was appointed Group Planning Director (England) in 2025. 

He joined Cala in 2020 as Land and Planning Director with our Thames regional business, having held previous roles at Knight Frank LLP, Daniel Watney and Dandara.  

John continues to hold the position of Land and Planning Director in our Thames region and holds MRTPI accreditation.  

He has responsibility for planning oversight on all the planning strategies that support our sites and businesses in England, challenging our planning assessments and timelines which are so crucial to our business. John is also chair of Cala’s Land Investment Group.
