Land off Burnfoot Road, Lochwinnoch

Planning application submitted

Cala Homes (West) have submitted a planning application to Renfrewshire Council for residential development in Lochwinnoch.

The area of land sits between Garpel Burn and St Joseph's Nursing Home off Burnfoot Road, to the south west of the village, and is allocated within the Renfrewshire Local Development Plan 2021 for housing (Referred to as "West of Burnfoot Road, Lochwinnoch").

Our proposal outlines a development of 79 private Cala homes, comprising a mix of 3 bedroom terraced and semi-detached homes, and 4- and 5-bedroom detached properties, alongside 26 affordable homes. The site will be surrounded by generous green space and will feature a play area, village green and various connecting active travel routes around the development.

Gillian Hessett, Land Manager at Cala Homes (West), said: “During the application process we carried out two thorough public consultations where we received valuable feedback from almost 200 local people which has helped to refine our proposals.

“Our plans would bring much needed homes to the area and we are confident that Renfrewshire Council will share our vision to create a sustainably led development with the community at its heart".

The application is expected to be determined in summer 2025, and should we receive the green light, groundworks will commence later that year.

If successful, Cala would implement its Community Pledge initiative in Lochwinnoch, which sees the housebuilder creating bespoke programmes of community activity for each of its developments.

Each development’s activity looks to address specific community needs including donations, volunteering, learning programmes and much more.

Gillian added: “Our Community Pledge includes school outreach programmes such as Land to Life, which details how we bring a community to life right from the planning stages, and Stay Safe, Stay Away, which highlights the dangers of playing near construction sites. It also includes our Urban Wildlife Strategy which outlines our plans to incorporate a range of wildlife-supporting measures into every new home we build.

“As we are often in touch with community councils and local groups during the planning process, we also look for opportunities to help specific charities and organisations that benefit our communities.”
