Monday 18th January, the third Monday in the month, is often referred to as ‘Blue Monday’ and is seen as one of the most difficult days of the year. The Samaritans campaign aims to turn this on its head and into something positive by encouraging people to put the kettle on and get together for a virtual chat and a cuppa.
The initiative also encourages those taking part to make a donation to help raise funds for the charity’s vital work.
A spokesperson for Samaritans said: “It has been a winter like no other. The challenges that many people face during this season have been felt more acutely this year with the pandemic. There couldn’t be a better time to reach out for a chat with someone you care about. Taking the time to really listen to another person can help them to work through what’s on their mind.”
Piers Banfield, operations director for Cala Homes, comments: “We were delighted to once again support Samaritans’ Brew Monday campaign. This year, our events were held virtually, but our teams still appreciated the opportunity to take time out, connect with colleagues and raise money for such a worthwhile cause.”
