When Lucy and her partner, Fraser, decided they were ready to take the next step in their lives and purchase their first home together, they did their own research to make sure their new home was the right choice for both of their lifestyles, and all their needs and wants.

Having already explored the town of Kirkintilloch and familiarised themselves with the area pretty well, they soon had an inkling of where they wanted to live.

The couple had watched our Weaver’s Brae development being built from the ground up months prior and couldn’t stop thinking about this idyllic suburb.  After more research, Lucy and Fraser decided that a new build home was perfect for them, so they quickly arranged a viewing of a Bryce four-bedroom housestyle, where they instantly fell in love with the layout, surroundings, and our five-star service.

“When we made the decision to buy together, we knew quite quickly that we wanted a new build home. Fraser works away for weeks at a time, so if we’d bought a house that needed a lot of work done, I’d be dealing with a lot of it on my own. Therefore, buying a new build home that didn’t need any DIY or renovations was a no brainer for me,” said Lucy.

Having previously lived in a smaller, two-bedroom apartment in Glasgow city centre, the couple also particularly liked the fact the house was a larger detached style.

The new homeowners are also enjoying the energy-efficient and cost-effective benefits of having a new build home compared to their old tenement apartment, despite spending much more time in their new, much larger house, which Lucy describes as their ‘forever home’. In fact, recent research has shown that the average new build energy bill could be 65% cheaper, saving an average of £1,980*a year. These are just some of the many reasons to buy a new build home with Cala.

“For us, one of the main benefits of our new home is the size of it. We both feel like we have plenty of space to do our own things – for example, I can film cooking vlogs in the open-plan kitchen or work in my home office whilst Fraser can practice his bagpipes in the lounge.”

The 32-year-old couple first started their journey with us in February 2024 and were given the keys to their new home in May, with the whole process from first viewing to moving-in taking only four months. Lucy credits this to our customer service.

Lucy continued: “We always assumed buying a house would be incredibly stressful, but the sales team hugely helped ease the whole process. Our time at home is precious, so I wanted this to be as quick and painless of a process as possible – it felt like Cala did everything for us, and any worries we had were taken away by not being in a chain.

We chose the Bryce at Weaver’s Brae because ultimately, we could see ourselves spending a lifetime here - we can adapt the home to support us throughout all stages of life, including starting a family, and eventually retiring.”

Located in Kirkintilloch, Weaver’s Brae offers the best of both worlds with the semi-rural surroundings of East Dunbartonshire, yet with Glasgow city centre and beyond within easy reach. Speak with our sales team to find out more or visit us today.
