Banchory Lodge and The Douglas Arms Hotel are both wonderful properties to spend the night if you’re visiting Aberdeen, but are also dog-friendly spots to grab a traditional pub lunch and watch the day’s sports. Another well-loved local hotel is The Stag, which hosts a popular lounge bar and outdoor patio to sit, perfect for sunnier days.

Finzean Estate And Farm Shop, Aberdeenshire Highland Beef and The Seed Box are all must visits, with the latter actively looking for volunteers for their gardens.
Things to do around Banchory
Aberdeenshire possess some of the most gorgeous scenery in Scotland, and Banchory is the perfect base to explore some stunning local nature spots. Drum Castle and Crathes Castle both boast picturesque gardens that are open for visitors over the weekend. (An insider tip is after visiting Crathes Castle - wander over to Milton of Crathes, home to an exclusive collection of independent businesses, such as retail and dining.)
The stunning Falls of Feugh waterfalls is a popular beauty spot with a reputation for being a good place to watch salmon running upstream, and nearby picnic tables. Scolty Hill is a short walk with a steep climb to the summit of the landmark 20m tall tower monument, where you can climb the spiral staircase to the top of the tower for an even better view of the surrounding countryside. If you’re up for it, the walk can be extended by including the well sign posted March Trail through the nearby woodlands.
Battle Grounds has a fantastic array of activities for those looking for things to do around Banchory for a fun day out, including paintballing, laser tag and archery to name a few. For a more relaxed option, The Barn collaborates with local artists to host events and projects. If you are planning on visiting Aberdeenshire Highland Beef mentioned earlier, be sure to check out the times for meeting the resident highland cows and lambs. Banchory Museum is fun for the whole family no matter what age you are, and includes an interactive experience, beautiful surrounding countryside and access through to the Banchory Library.
