Or if history is more your thing, you can explore the eponymous Fordingbridge Bridge, which dates back to the 13th century, and is an excellent spot for a photo opportunity and offers views of the River Avon. Or why not head to the Fordingbridge Museum, where you can learn about the town’s past through exhibits covering everything from prehistoric times to the present day. The A338 gives direct access to Sailsbury, and the M27 motorway is just a short drive away, connecting you for onward journeys to Southampton, Winchester and London via the M3.

For gastro pub food, head to The George which is dog-friendly, so much so they have a whole menu for your canine companions whilst the Railway Hotel is ideal if you’re looking for somewhere to enjoy a Sunday lunch after a walk in the New Forest. 

Another firm favourite within Fordingbridge is The Potting Shed which is a small, quirky licensed café on the edge of New Forest which as well as offering breakfast and lunch, also serves delightful afternoon teas. The menu is created from fresh ingredients from other local businesses in the area and if its nice you can enjoy dining al fresco.
