Ann Ward and her husband stayed in a three-bedroom semi-detached home in East Kilbride for 35 years, it had been the family home where they raised their children. However, Ann knew it was time to downsize to a home which was more manageable for her, husband Ian and their daughter, Cassie, who lives with them.
They began looking for new homes in Jackton, an upcoming community in the desirable area of South Lanarkshire, which seemed like the perfect fit as it was local enough to friends and family in East Kilbride and close to the town of Eaglesham which has plenty of amenities.
The couple first enquired about our Sequoia Meadows development in Jackton last year, interested in the new build apartments on offer. They received a call from our sales team when the first apartments were released and as soon as they visited the two-bedroom show apartment, they made the decision to finally make the move.
Ann said: “We were looking for something which had very little maintenance where we would be able to move in straight away with no need for any DIY.
“We previously lived in a three-bedroom home with an extension however we didn’t need all the space, plus Ian and I are getting older, so we wanted something accessible and easy to keep.”
The Ward family purchased a two-bedroom ground floor apartment with a balcony – one of the many reasons they opted for an apartment – and loved the idea of an open plan kitchen and lounge.
Ann continued: “I never thought I’d go for it, but it was the perfect plot, and I truly believe it was made for us; it suits all our needs.
“We had just returned from holiday when we first saw the apartments advertised but they hadn’t yet been released for sale. The lovely sales team kept in touch with us and phoned us as soon as they were on sale, and before we knew it, we had reserved.”
The apartment features an open plan layout with the kitchen and living area bathed in light thanks to the large windows and doors leading to a private balcony. The kitchen has integrated appliances and both spacious bedrooms come complete with fitted wardrobes. All apartments also have allocated parking and video entry systems.

To help them make the move, the family chose to use our Part Exchange Service. Ann added: “At first, we didn’t use Part Exchange however it made the move much simpler; our house was on the market and sold quickly thanks to Cala. On reflection, I wished we had used it at the start of our journey.”
Situated in the semi-rural suburb of Jackton, Sequoia Meadows is a growing community on the outskirts of East Kilbride. For Ann, the location was one of the main reasons for deciding to purchase their new home.
Ann continued: “I can’t express how happy we are, we’d had quite a stressful time before moving due to various things but now I wake up and look outside and can’t believe how lucky we are.
“I love the location; I enjoy walking, and I like being so close to Eaglesham as it has plenty of local shops and we’re close to a nearby retail park too – we couldn’t ask for much else.”
