Sustainability at Cala

Sustainability is something we’re building our future on. Our journey started with small steps and we’re making great progress, as quickly as we can, since launching our first Sustainability Strategy in 2020.

Through low carbon heating technologies such as air source heat pumps, we aim for all Cala homes to be zero-carbon ready by 2030. To support this, all new developments going to planning since 1 January 2024 will be gas-free. We have committed to achieving net-zero greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions across the value chain by 2045. These targets are grounded in scientific evidence and fully align with the goals of the Paris Agreement, as verified by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi).

Sustainability goes beyond carbon emissions and our strategy has been carefully planned to initially focus on the things that will make the biggest difference. We are doing this through our homes and developments, the way we run our business, our people and communities, and our employees are empowered to own this as part of our culture. We will be a business that leaves a positive, lasting legacy for both people and the planet.

What have we achieved?

Since launching our Sustainability Strategy in 2020, we've made some great progress in our sustainability journey. Our achievements so far are only the beginning, we will continue to develop this to sustain our long-term future and commitment to communities and the environment.
